What leaves your computer
Short version: your footage and projects stay on your disk. AI features send what they need to the AI provider doing the work. Clivie records how much each request used, not what was in it.
On your computer
Projects, media, transcripts, renders and exports live in your projects folder. Your licence key and any provider keys you add are encrypted with your system keychain. The editor runs as a local server that only accepts requests from its own window.
AI requests
When you use an AI feature, the part of your project it needs goes to the provider that does the work — for example the audio being transcribed, or frames the assistant was asked to look at. With Clivie credits, those requests pass through Clivie's service, which adds the provider key and measures usage; the content passes straight through and isn't stored. With your own keys, requests go straight from your computer to the provider.
For billing
For each AI request Clivie records: when it happened, which computer and project it came from (as random ids, not names), which model ran, how much it used (tokens, seconds of audio or video, images), and the credits charged. Not your prompts, not the replies, not your media. You can see every one of these records in your account.
For each computer: the name your system reports, its platform, the app version, and when it last checked in — so you can tell your seats apart.
Diagnostics
Crash reports stay on your computer. Help → Report a Problem… collects them with recent logs into one file, with keys and tokens removed, for you to read and send if you choose. Nothing is uploaded automatically.
